Your chance to raise a glass in celebration of a favourite ‘local’

Hebden Bridge Times Pub of the Year 2013 - the search is on!
Hebden Bridge Times Pub of the Year 2013 - the search is on!

Our search has begun to find the best local in the area to be crowned the Hebden Bridge Times Pub of the Year 2013.

We hope the competition will provide some extra support for our licensed premises, some of whom have been not only getting back to normal after the devastating flooding of summer 2012 but also expanding the services they offer to their customers.

Hebden Bridge is a great place to unwind with a drink, a meal or just some good company, and we believe our pubs play a vital role in helping businesses in this part of the valley to thrive and its communities to tick.

We hope this year’s competition will raise a glass to toast the contribution your favourite local makes to making this such a brilliant place to live.

Your favourite pub only needs one nomination to go on to the next stage, when we will feature the nominated hostelries in the Hebden Bridge Times, with the nomination form printed in this week’s paper.

Nominations should be sent to Hebden Bridge Times, Love Your Local - Pub Of The Year 2013, c/o Halifax Courier, Promotions Department, PO Box 19, King Cross Street, Halifax, HX1 2SF. They can also be dropped in at the Halifax Courier office front counter.

The pub that polls the highest number of votes once voting has begun will be declared the winner.

Many of us have a favourite local, and for a whole range of reasons. They are not all the same and it is their diversity that makes for a variety which benefits and enriches the community.

We may like its beer selection, it may be a favourite venue for a meal, a place to watch or listen to music, play in teams that are based at the pub, or simply to meet friends for a good chat.

Above all, we love their ambience, a place where we can feel comfortable and forget about the stresses of the world for a while.

Our pubs face many challenges in the modern era, perhaps more than they have ever done before. Landlords and landladies and their staffs are working harder than ever to enhance and improve the service they offer to their customers. The competition is a chance to say “cheers” to them.
