Centrepiece is Mozart clarinet work
The next “Antony and Friends” concert hosted and performed by local solicitor Antony Brannick will take place on Saturday, April 26, at the Central Methodist Church in Todmorden at 7.30pm.
Antony’s guests on this occasion will be the Elmet Quintet consisting of Rachael Gibbon (clarinet), Alison White and Richard Webb (violin), Robin Pennie (viola) and Caroline Steer (cello). Local audiences will recognise these performers.
The main work featured in the programme will be Mozart’s magnificent and beautiful clarinet quintet. Also making up the programme will be a Fantasy for clarinet and string quartet by Stanford, a sonata for clarinet and piano by Poulenc, and an arrangement of Beethoven’s gorgeous Romance in F for clarinet and string quartet. Clarinet and bass clarinet also featured in last month’s concert with modern contemporary works being performed so this concert will provide contrasting music from an earlier period.
There’ll also be a prelude and fugue by Bach and it is hoped to include a short piece for saxophone played by Anjali Vyas-Brannick.
Admission is free and as usual there will be refreshments. A retiring collection will be taken to help defray expenses. All are welcome.
