5. New look for Halifax train station
The front of Halifax train station has seen a face lift since the start of the Millenium. In 2009 a 2.5 million refurbishment scheme began and included various repairs and covering the platform.
6. Hospital change
The Royal Halifax Infirmary opened in 1896 and closed in 2001, being replaced by Calderdale Royal Hospital. Part of the former hospital buildings, which is grade II listed, was converted into apartments.
7. Blue Sox to RLFC
Back in 2000 there was Halifax Blue Sox but in 2020 we have Halifax RLFC. The rugby club returned to their traditional name at the start of 2003. The club was formed in 1873 and known as Blue Sox between 1996 and 2002.
8. Cow Green car park
Cow Green multi-storey car park closed in 2013 and was demolished at the start of 2016 due to it being in a dangerous condition. Once the site was cleared for redevelopment it was turned into a 72 space car park.
