The awareness week is aimed at enabling people to voice their questions in a convenient and confidential manner on an issue that affects one in six couples.

Dr De Bono joined the Trust in 1995 to set up its assisted conception unit.

Currently, around 100 babies are born as a result of the care and expertise of the team.

Dr De Bono, said: “Babies are a very joyous part of medicine yet trying to conceive can also be the most difficult of times. We know there are couples who choose to come here when they could choose elsewhere and that’s because of our team – that means a lot to us. Our couples go through tremendous emotional journeys during their time with us and we are with them every step of the way.

“More and more people do now talk about fertility issues which means more are getting care and more are becoming parents.”

Fertility nurse specialist and team leader sister Helen Marvell, said: “Everycouple has their own unique care needs both physical and emotionally. What our team does it to work out with them from the start exactly what they need and try to deliver the complete care package – and hopefully, a little one at the end.”

Mr Rogawski, who specialises in male fertility, said: “We always invite a couple to come in together from the start so we can plan their treatment together and understand together. We believe the together approach leads to better care for our couples.”
