First person in Calderdale recieves Covid-19 vaccination

Calderdale Council's Director of Public Health, Debs Harkins was there to meet Resham Bi, 86, who was the first person to be vaccinated, and mark this significant milestone.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be here when the first Calderdale resident has their Covid-19 vaccine," she the director of public health.

"This is a really important milestone in a long journey of tackling Covid-19 in Calderdale.

"It;s a first step really towards us moving to a new normal.

"We've learnt a lot about Covid over the last nine months and we've learnt a lot about the people that are more seriously affected - the people who are most likely to die, or getreally severe illness from the disease, and we know that those are older people aged over 80, over 75, and also residents and staff members in care homes.

"So the priority for the rollout of the vaccine will be to those people first.

"When its our turn to have the vaccine we will be invited so if we can all be patient but be confident the people that need the vaccine most are getting it first."
