"We have to think about all the performers but most of all the population of Calderdale. Flood Aid is there to help people not place people at any risk which we are sure you will understand.

"We will keep everyone updated as time goes by with regards a new date later in the year, all tickets will be honoured for the revised date.

"The cancellation of this event is for the health and well-being of all our audience, volunteers and performers. Thank you for supporting our difficult decision."

Hebden Bridge Piano Festival

The festival was due to take place between April 23-25.

David Nelson , one of the organisers said: "It is with great sadness and disappointment that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Hebden Bridge Piano Festival Board has taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Festival.

"There are many factors involved in this decision – In particular we are concerned about the health, safety, welfare and availability of our volunteers and audience.

"Many of these people are in the over-70s at-risk category and may well find themselves quarantined for the next few months, which would make running the Festival impossible.

"We are also very aware of our responsibility towards our performers who may be risking their own health in coming to the Festival.

"The Festival Board has been discussing the implications of a possible cancellation since the virus was first detected in the UK, and our policy has been to wait for formal government or Public Health England instructions on this.

"Although such advice is not yet entirely clear we now feel that it would be both futile and irresponsible to wait any longer to take a decision that has already been made by arts and sports organisations across the UK."

Cromwell Bottom Wildlife Group

Chairman of the Cromwell Bottom Wildlife group has said they are cancelling the meetings and volunteer days. The cafe at the nature spot will also be closed. Graham Haigh said: "Until things settle down , I don’t want to put anyone at risk as a high percentage of all our volunteers and trustees are classed as at high risk ,we need to look after ourselves."
