Calderdale Council 'doing all it can' to prevent spread of coronavirus

We understand that many people in Calderdale might be concerned about the Coronavirus and its impact locally. There’s a lot of misinformation doing the rounds about the virus, so we want to answer as many questions as possible.
The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK has risen to 1543, as 171 more cases were confirmed.

Hide AdA statement by the Department of Health and Social Care said as of 9am on March 16 2020, 44,105 people have been tested in the UK, of which 42,562 were confirmed negative and 1,543 were confirmed as positive.
In Calderdale there have been five confirmed cases of coronavirus.
A spokesperson for Calderdale Council said: "Firstly, we’re doing all we can to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. #
"We’re monitoring the situation closely and it’s important to keep up to date with trusted sources, including Public Health England and nhs.uk.

Hide Ad"We encourage everyone in Calderdale to take extra precautions. Stay at home for seven days if you experience a new, continuous cough and/or a high temperature.
"Only use the NHS 111 online service if your symptoms worsen or you don’t get any better after seven days.
"It’s really important you help to prevent the spread of Coronavirus by washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and hot water, or by using an alcohol based gel.
"Many major supermarkets have reduced availability of essential items at the moment.

"Buying more than is needed can mean others are left without essentials.
"Finally, be kind and look out for elderly and vulnerable relatives, who may need to self-isolate. Please take personal responsibility and think about how your actions might put others at risk, and take care."
