Lesley bows out after ten years of happy memories

Lesley Bowyer will be leaving Carr Green Primary School at Easter to take up her position as head teacher of the primary section at the new Halifax High School - which will become a through school for four to 16-year-olds.

Mrs Bowyer said: “It’s very sad and emotional as I have so many happy memories here.

“One of my biggest achievements was going through the refurbishment of the school. The staff worked really hard to keep things going.

“My main highlight was when we celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee and we had a massive garden party.

“Everything just came together on the day with the weather.

“It was just fantastic having a big picnic.”

Among her other achievements she will remember fondly are the outstanding Ofsted report the school achieved and the centenary celebrations.

But it will be difficult saying goodbye to the friends and people of Carr Green.

“I will miss the people the most from the children, families, governors and obviously the staff,” she said.

“I have been able to see children being born and then grow up and attend the school.

“It is the people that make the school what it is.”

Stepping into her shoes will be deputy head teacher Paul Mashinter, who has been in his role for 12 years.

“It is going to be a challenge but I am excited,” he said. “Lesley has been a real inspirational head teacher and I am looking forward to taking the school onto the next part of its journey.

“One of Lesley’s qualities is her people skills.

“There is a lot of pressure in education but she has maintained them throughout.

“She wants everybody to do well and got the children, parents and grandparents working together.

“She is a real people person and I hope to keep that going.”

“It’s important we keep the ethos of the school going that Lesley has created as it is important to parents why they choose this school.”
