Bassoonery comes with strings attached

There will be a welcome return to music at the Smith Art Gallery, Brighouse, on Thursday, November 19 whereBassoonery, an ensemble of string musicians and bassoon player David Buck, are in concert.

The event has been organised by the Friends of the Rydings and will feature Alison Mordey and Richard Webster on violin, Robin Pennie on viola, and Caroline Steer on cello and is a continuance of the Brighouse Arts festival which took place earlier this year

David Buck grew up in Norfolk and, after graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music, worked as a bassoonist, woodwind teacher and bassoon reed maker. he enjoys solo, chamber and orchestral playing.

The ensemble will play a huge variety of music including Strimpellata from Suite Concerto – Wolf-Ferrari; Music from the Village Band 3, 5 & 6 from Six Studies in English Folksong – R Vaughan Williams; Andante e rondo Ungarese – Weber; Concerto in C Major – Vivaldi; Aria Deh, viene alla finestra – Mozart; Entr’acte – Bizet; Valse – Tchaikovsky and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – Dukas.
