This week, at The Halifax Playhouse, Calder Valley Youth Theatre will be embarking on their most ambitious production to date, Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s rock musical ‘Starlight Express’.
The Starlight Express will leave at 7.15pm each night from November 12 to 15, including a Saturday Matinee at 2.15pm, and this production promises to be as musically spectacular as the 1980s original staged by Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
As reported last week, the show has sold out its run - you can call Linda Bradshaw on 07971 428759 to go on the waiting list for any returned tickets.
Not only have the cast learnt to dance and sing some of the most memorable Lloyd-Webber numbers from the original show, but they have also have had to learn to roller skate in a fairly short space of time. This in itself makes the physical practicalities of dancing all the more illuminating, exciting and demanding and gives this unique show an unpredictable edge which will test the immense talents of the young cast.
Many of the numbers penned by Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber are now popular in their own right and have become as famous as the show itself and include ‘Rolling Stock’, ‘Light At The End Of The Tunnel’, and ‘Make Up My Heart’.
The Halifax Playhouse will be converted into something resembling a set Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber would be proud of and along with the lighting and special affects this will prove to be a truly memorable production.
