Band all set to swing with Christmas spirit

Popular 15-piece band Sundown Swing is set to give two concerts to conclude a successful 2016. On Saturday, December 10, the band will be in action at St Matthew's Church, Rastrick at 7.30pm and the next day there will be an afternoon concert at St Philip's Church, Birchencliffe, starting at 3pm.

The programme will include festive swing items to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. These will be interspersed with big band classics from the 1940s, many of which were made famous by Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Frank Sinatra, and also swing music more recently revived by Michael Buble and Robbie Williams.

Vocal entertainment will be provided by talented singers Robert Gee and Diane Armer who will entertain with solos and duets.

The band has had a packed schedule this year, playing a total of 25 engagements. These have included public performances, private functions and outdoor bandstand concerts. In August the band returned for the third successive time to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and performed to a capacity audience at the iconic St Giles’ Cathedral.
