Keep it local this Christmas, do your Christmas shopping, meet local artists and makers, and support the local economy all in one visit is the aim of an event organised in Todmorden this weekend.
An event organised under Todmorden Business Association’s ‘Made in Tod!’ banner will showcase local artists and makers and their work.
A wide range of disciplines and work will be on offer including drawings and paintings, photography, cards, ceramics, wood, textiles, hand spun yarns, jewellery, jams and chutneys, Christmas wreaths and more.
‘Meet the Makers’ will be held at the Masonic Hall, White Hart Fold, Todmorden on Saturday, November 22, from 10am to 4pm.
Organiser Alison Stansfield says: “This is a great opportunity for folks to come along, meet and chat with the makers, browse unique quality art & gifts, have a drink, eat cake, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.”
Meanwhile two Hebden area artists are at an event running over two weekends.
They will be among more than 100 artists who are showing and selling their work at the Art Market at Holmfirth Indoor Market. Over 100 artists and designer makers will be showing their wares there on Sunday, November 23, and Sunday, November 30, from 10am to 4pm.
Textile artist Kate Whitehead from Hebden Bridge said: “I am really looking forward to showing off my work and making some sales, ready for Christmas” and Helen Russell, who is based at Cragg Vale Business Park, said “I am showing this weekend with my existing collection and some new surprises too, just for The Art Market.”
