Hair stylist swaps bright city lights of NYC for new life in Hebden Bridge

Would you swap the bright city lights of New York City and mingling with A-list stars for the picturesque streets of Hebden Bridge?

Celebrity hair stylist Jodi Goodacre, 22, did just that and is now welcoming clients through the doors of her ALL organic hair salon in Hebden Bridge.

Her incredible journey began four years ago, when she moved stateside to study at a prestigious Paul Mitchell training school.

A whirlwind of working in Miami, LA and during fashion week began and as Jodi’s career soared, she began tending to the tresses of celebrities including Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera and Adam Sandler.

But she found that working with harsh products was playing havoc with her skin.

She said: “I began to get really bad cracked skin from the products and the chemicals. I was having to end my career over it. My breathing was becoming really bad and there was a point where I thought ‘I’m going to have to come away from this’.

Jodi then found the answer to her problems - an organic salon in Hoboken, New Jersey. An organic ethos is now one Jodi is passionate about and promotes in her own salon, Hair Bar, on Crown Street.

Her and partner Joe moved back to Joe’s hometown of Holmfirth, Huddersfield, six months ago and Jodi knew Hebden Bridge would be the perfect location for her new venture.

But what does organic hair care mean and what makes it different? Jodi says its all about the chemicals inside the products.

She said: “Some popular brands contain ammonia and even small traces of petrol. Obviously, our products don’t have those.

“We are still able to pamper those clients who are pregnant or may have had or are going through chemotherapy, or any other harsh treatments.”

Above all, Jodi wants the salon to feel like a “living room for the community”, a place where her clients feel comfortable, but also a place where her sylists can grow and progress.

Speaking about her experience of the town, Jodi said: “People have been so nice and so supportive and the girls who work here have really believed in me.”
