An array of classic alternative music is coming to Hebden Bridge, as the fourth True Faith gig takes place this weekend.
DJ Mark Hodkinson and DJ Geoff Read will be holding the fourth True Faith night at Nelson’s, on Crown Bridge, in Hebden Bridge on Saturday (May 17).
A range of classic alternative music will be played, such as The Cure, The Chameleons, Nirvana, The Smiths alongside recent bands Army Navy and The Horrors.
However, they are unlikely to play songs from bands like Oasis.
Geoff said: “Neither of us are crazy about the more laddish elements of india.
“You hear so much of that material elsewhere. We would rather we blasting out Camper Van Beethoven Jonathan Richman or Felt - stuff that is a bit off the beaten track.”
Mark said: “The previous nights have all been brilliant.
“There aren’t many places where you can hear these kinds of tunes played good and loud.
“It’s not nostalgia for its own sake because we’re still into finding and playing new bands as much as ever.
In January, the True Faith DJs supported Terry Hall, formerly of The Specials, when he played a DJ spot at a Trades Club.
Mark added: “Obviously we had to blend out set a bit with Terry’s so it was more dance-orientated but Nelson’s is more our own turf so we will be going back to more guitar-driven music.’’
The event will begin at 7.00pm and finish at 1.00am.
Admission to True Faith is free.
