An Exhibition by The Northern Potters Association in my home town of Todmorden, at the Water Street Gallery!
What a pleasure to deliver my pots and only drive two miles to the venue. Now that makes a refreshing change, writes Walsden potter Gary Thomas.
The NPA covers a vast geographical area, aiming to encourage and support artists in the production of sculptural, functional, fine art and decorative studio pottery in all its forms throughout the North of England. Ceramic Vessels was a combined effort by 22 NPA members and what a good show! Many and varied approaches, changes in scale, colour, form and a full range of techniques. All displayed to perfection in this compact, well lit space.
Water Street Gallery has been around for a few years now but it is really starting to buzz with the efforts of the present owners, Rosemary and Mike Holcroft. It seems to go from strength to strength. with a continuous programme of new and exciting exhibitions.
The window display alone is a pleasure to view, especially on a winter evening when all around seems dull and uninteresting. The bright lights and varied displays of art and craft in the window is a real invite to mosey on inside. Go on make the effort, go and see the current exhibition here in Todmorden. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Go on inside and spend some quality time viewing.
