Study in basic abstract

David Jarrett brings a bold dash of colour in his latest exhibition of 14 large paintings at Northlight Art Studios over bank holiday weekend.

“This exhibition is primarily looking at simple shapes/forms, textures and colour combinations; whilst at the same time looking at the contrasts between these different colours and shapes/forms,” says David.

“Each painting was created with only a palette knife and my finger/hand. I am interested in abstraction and the colourfield movement; yet I am also heavily influenced by primitive methods,” he adds.

“You could say that each individual painting is solely looking at basic abstraction principals.”

The exhibition opens on Friday night from 7pm to 9pm at Northlight’s Valley Road studios.
