Pennine Spring concerts usher in the summer ...

The magnificent Heptonstall Parish Church hosts three concerts over a week of challenging music in its Pennine Spring series.

Tuesday, May 31: Includes Mozart: Marriage of Figaro Overture; Holst: Somerset Rhapsody; Walton: Two pieces for strings from Henry V; Elgar’s Give unto the Lord and Brahms Symphony No4.

Thursday, June 2: Chamber Concert including Holst: Choral hymns from Rig Veda; Britten: Ballad of Little Musgrave and Lady Barnard; Saint-Saens: Carnival of the Animals and a selection of music from the Baroque repertoire.

Saturday June 4: Stravinsky: Suite No2 for small orchestra; Copland: Appalachian Spring; Mozart C minor Mass (The Great) with soloists Philippa Hyde, Catrin Price Jones, Richard Dowling and Richard Moore.

Tickets are available on the door or at the Hebden Bridgel Tourist Information Centres.

They cost £10, £8 concessionary and £1 for under16s.
