Sue Allinson and Phil Withersby, owners of the Calder Gallery in Hebden Bridge, were delighted to welcome back Kate Boyce for another outstanding exhibition of her work.
Phil said: “Kate’s shows are always special to us because she was the first artist to join us when we were opening eight years ago.
“Kate uses colour wonderfully well and her ability to make one sing against another is just lovely.”
Last week’s preview evening showcasing her work was a huge success, with many of Kate’s fans turning up to enjoy her work. Kate is pictured (above, right) with Nina Wadcock.
She is well known and popular in the town, said Sue, adding: “These preview evenings are always a really nice occasion where customers have the opportunity to meet and chat with the artist about their work.”
The new pictures feature Kate’s trademark style in works that are often bright and exciting, abstract yet fixed in the local landscape.
Sue said: “Kate’s paintings are a striking combination of fluid brushwork and vivid colour, enhanced by the sensitive addition of photographic imagery using a hi-tech transparent film that moulds itself to the canvas.
“Her technique has been developed over a number of years and the quality of her work has been confirmed by the approval of the Arts Council, numerous commissions by large businesses and the beautiful paintings hanging proudly in homes throughout the UK.”
The exhibition can be viewed until Sunday, October 27 at the Market Street gallery. For more information visit www.caldergallery.co.uk or call 01422 843832.
