Kascarade builds on album launch

Halifax musician Martin Horton will be performing at Bradford's Stein Bierkeller on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 29, as part of the up-and-coming retro-style rock band Kascarade.

Martin, from Lee Mount, plays keyboards with Kascarade, a five-piece indie band whose sound draws on a wide range of influences from 1960s to 1990s rock, pop and alternative genres.

The audience can expect an experience which ranges from up-tempo, beat-driven tracks, to slower -paced acoustic/piano combos, making for a varied and melodic live show.

Formed in August 2010, the band has played successful gigs around the UK, supporting, touring and performing with well-known acts like Simon Fowler (Ocean Colour Scene), Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets), Proud Mary, The Hoosiers, Chris Helme (The Seahorses), Scars on 45 and the Levellers.

Kascarade successfully launched their debut album ‘The start of it all’ at the end of April in front of a capacity audience at the Delius Art and Cultural Centre in Great Horton Road, Bradford.

The gig was followed by an after-party at the nearby Brew Haus bar where fans were able to acquire a limited edition press of the album which has been completely recorded and produced by the band.

The Kascarade line-up is: Matthew ‘Maf’ Milnes – Vocals/Rhythm Guitar; Luke Milnes – Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals; Adam Brankin – Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals; Carl Bower – Drums/Percussion; Martin Horton – Keyboard/Synth.

Todmorden Carnival

If you are looking for a great day out on Saturday (and the weather looks like it’s going to be good) then head up to Todmorden with the family for the town’s annual carival. It is the 63rd hosting of the event since it was restarted in 1953 and as usual it takes place in the wonderful Centre Vale Park.
