Starting from this Saturday, Hebden Bridge Light Opera Society (HBLOS) is beginning classes in performing arts in order to be ready for the opening of the Hebden Bridge Performing Arts Centre (formerly Youth House ) on Carlton Street.

The group has enlisted the services of David (Dev) Swan and his daughter Tamara to organise the sessions, which will cover all aspects of performing.

Society chairman Michael Mallinson said: “Dev Swan has many years of experience in this form of tuition, having already established a flourishing school in Glusbern.

“He has spent many years in America as a professional director and is well known to theatres both there and in England.

“His daughter Tamara is also a well established dancer having performed in many prestigious venues.

“Anyone wishing to seize this opportunity to obtain professional tuition should meet at the Masonic Lodge, Hangingroyd Lane, Hebden Bridge, on Saturday, February 1. Classes will be held weekly.

“Under 11’s meet at 10am and practice till 11am. Over 11’s meet at 10.30am and practice till 12 noon. There is no upper age limit.”

Each session will cost £3 for under 11’s and £4 for over 11’s. For more information contact Dev on 01274 815524 / 079471851444 Michael on 01422 353380 / 07876572399.
