The first by Bach is entitled ‘Jesu, Meine Freude’ and is based on words taken from St Paul’s Epistle to the Romans. In it there is a plea for man to be freed from sin and to find solace in the Holy Spirit.

The second piece is by Bruckner who was a great follower of Wagner. This led him to produce work of majestic harmonies and power. In some places the choruses are spread over at least seven parts. This, together with language intricacies, will give the choir ample opportunity to explore the versatility of its members.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £8/£6. These are available from Todmorden Tourist Information Centre or email [email protected]
