Celebrating ‘The Ceramic Vessel’ as an art form at Water Street Gallery, Todmorden, are 25 established makers, together with some recent talented MA graduates.

Many are part of the Northern Potters Association, while some are from far afield from Wales and Scotland, to Norfolk and Cornwall.

“All have distinctive styles and techniques, while all are united in the pursuit of exciting and original ways of exploring space and form ‘within and without’. In all, they are demonstrating the seemingly infinite variety in glazing and decoration, creating objects of great beauty,” said Rosemary Holcroft, of the gallery.

“The traditional age-long process of using simple mediums of clay, pigment and glaze is elevated beyond function, embracing pure contemporary art forms, breaking the barriers between sculpture and pottery, increasingly acknowledged as Fine Art.

“Each of these artists exudes pure enjoyment and knowledge of their medium, resulting in work of the highest calibre. Whether viewing this as a specialist collector or new to fine art ceramics this exhibition will undoubtedly have wide appeal.”

It runs until April 27 at Water Street Gallery, 25 Water Street, Todmorden.
