Chris White is leaving Mytholmroyd CC, who improved one place to finish third in the Foster’s Halifax League’s top flight this summer.

The burly bowler is moving on to Blackley after three seasons with the Moderna Way club.

Chairman Simon Wheelwright said: “He will be a big loss because he is a good bowler.

“He bowls medium pace with a bit of bite and almso moves it around. He can also hit a ball as well.”

White’s latest season was disrupted by injury but he finished fifth in the league bowling averages in 2013 with 43 wickets at 18.70.

Tom Earle remains as first team skipper and fellow batsman Wheelwright said the captain was speaking to a few potential targets.

The Halifax League’s second team averages have been released and Tom Russell came close to success for ‘Royd in the Division one batting.

Russell was the top runmaker among all the second team batsman with 763 runs at 58.70.

However, he was beaten by Southowram youngster Lewis Mattock, who only batted 10 times and was not out on four of them, scoring 428 runs at 71.73

Russell’s father Jon also scored well for promotion-winning Royd, finishing seventh with 311 runs at 34.60.

Dan Murgatroyd was the club’s best bowler with 35 wickets at 16.40 behind Neil Eastwood (40 at 9.48) for champions Southowram.

In the Premier Division, Booth’s Paul Heptinstall (570 runs at 43.80) was seventh in the batting, won by Copley’s Mohammed Seraj (654 at 65.4). Andy Butterworth (34 at 18.30) was eighth in the bowling.
