Todmorden Harriers made up nearly half of the field in the Littleborough Lions 5K charity race, which was also the ninth counter in the club’s road championship.

Mel Blackhurst and Paul Brannigan led the 22-strong Tod contingent home, both finishing fourth and taking the veterans prizes.

David Leslie and Dan Taylor set personal bests with Dan finishing sixth. Richard Butterwick couldn’t manage a fourth consecutive personal best but did make the top 10.

The long descent from Hollingworth Lake to Littleborough railway station was the scene of many battles for extra championship points.

Peter Erhardt overhauled Dave Wilson with 200m to go and Andrea Taylor overtook Dave’s wife Helen Wilson.
