Hannah confirmed for Rio

The inevitable was confirmed today with Halifax's Hannah Cockroft among the first 13 track and field athletes announced for ParalympicsGB in Rio.

Cockroft, 23, was named alongside fellow Paralympic champions David Weir, Aled Davies and Richard Whitehead.

Cockroft is selected after winning the women’s T34 100m, 400m and 800m at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships.

“Hurricane Hannah” won two golds at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London.

Today’s announcement takes the number of selected athletes to 161 from 13 sports.

A further announcement will take place in late July to confirm the remaining places on the team for track and field.
