Scott McManus, FC Halifax Town’s FA Trophy hero, said scoring the winner at Wembley today was the best moment of his career and one of the best in his life.

The full back struck a superb shot on 48 minutes to clinch a 1-0 victory over Grimsby in the Shaymen’s first ever appearance at the national stadium.

He said: “It was unbelievable. I haven’t hit a sweeter strike in my career.”

McManus is predominantly a left-footed player and he said: “I don’t think I’ve ever kicked one off the floor before with my right foot.

“I don’t think anything will top this. Other than my two kids being born, it’s the best moment of my life.”
