Hebden Royd will need to be at the best against Bridge

Hebden Royd Red Star warmed up for this weekend’s Halifax FA Cup clash at Division One side Sowerby Bridge with a narrow 5-4 home victory over Greetland.

The victory saw Royd leapfrog Warley Rangers into fourth-place in the Premier Division after their rivals were humbled 5-2 by Northowram.

Pat Thomas scored twice for Royd with James Chadwick, Lewis Cockroft and Eddie Harvey also on target.

Greetland made a game of it with Asa Lumb, Niall Carrington, Jon Crowther and an own goal accounting for their tally.

Royd will need to be at their best on Saturday against a Sowerby Bridge side who sit fifth in the division below.

They had a good result last weekend, beating Greetland Reserves 5-1 away from home.

Hebden Royd Reserves suffered a disappointing 5-1 defeat at Denholme United Reserves last weekend.

Louis Beniot netted the only goal for the visitors with Lea Kelly grabbing a hat-trick for the hosts.

This weekend Royd’s second string are at home to fellow mid-table side Shelf United Reserves.
