Calder ‘76 have finished as the Valley’s top team in the Halifax AFL - a situation which looked most unlikely a couple of months ago when Midgley topped the table and they were near the bottom.

The pair have finished third and fourth respectively, separated by goal difference.

Calder made it nine wins and one draw from their last 10 games with a 3-0 derby victory over Hebden Royd Red Star last Friday. Remi Allen scored twice and Jonny Gibson got their other goal.

Midgley, who have had a raft of injuries to cope with, finished their league programme with a 5-0 success at Shelf United.

Sam Sharkey and Calum Wheelwright hit the target in Midgley Reserves’ 2-1 win at Sowerby Bridge and they have finished above their Calder counterparts, who lost 3-2 at home to Salem.

Hebden Royd Red Star completed a fluctuating season in Division Two with a good result - a 3-3 home draw against Brighouse Sports, who were completing a promotion-winning campaign.
