HEBDEN Bridge's junior teams finally shook off weeks of inactivity due to bad weather and Christmas to get their season back on track.
Norristhorpe U-13 2
Hebden Bridge Tigers U-13 3
AFTER two season of trying, Saints finally broke their Huddersfield League win duck.
This really says a lot for a team which has stuck together despite suffering over 50 defeats.
Fittingly it was a
fine all-round team display with Loughrey and Goff proving to be a handful for the Norristhorpe defence.
Bragg, Fenton, Wilson and Sudder controlled the midfield and the Tigers should have taken the lead when Goff shot wide.
When Norristhorpe had the ball Tigers goalkeeper Wilcox was an assured figure ably assisted by a back four of McMurdo, Gillling, Evans and Midgley.
Chances came at both ends, but a change of Tiger's formation just before the break saw McMurdo moved into midfield.
He picked up a good run from Midgley, ghosted into the box and slid the ball past the Norristhorpe keeper for the only goal of the first half.
The second half saw Norristhorpe pressing forward and they soon got an equaliser with a well taken effort.
It was end to end now with Payne and Heaps providing fresh legs for the Tigers.
Gilling, Evans and Wilcox stood firm at the back and Hebden regained the lead when Goff got the goal he fully deserved with a quality strike from an excellent Bragg through ball.
Two became three five minutes later when a mazy, skilful run from Heaps found Fenton unmarked to force the ball home.
However, Norristhorpe continued to press forward and pulled another back leaving a nervous last five minutes.

HB Saints Sharks U-9 4
Beacon Rangers U-9 0

Sharks celebrated their first win of the season in emphatic style.
It seems that Monday night training and tactical skills practice with manager Ian McCondach and Isobel Pollard is starting to bear fruit with precise passing and much improved tackling.
They took the lead after just three minutes when Joe Healey scored his fourth goal of the season.
Four minutes later he had his fifth and the remainder of the first half saw strong performances from man of the match Enki Gray, Lucas Archer and Vinny McCondach in midfield providing numerous chances for Matthew Broadbent and Healey.
The second half saw a comeback from Rangers but solid defensive work from Frank Bradshaw, Craig Strickland and Sam Edmondson and goalkeeper Joe Smith thwarted them.
A neat chip into the back of the net from Broadbent after cutting past several defenders on the left wing saw Sharks extend their lead and victory was sealed when Eoin McCondach slipped the ball past the keeper from close range.
Sharks have been on the receiving end of several heavy defeats this season but their effort and commitment paid off with this superb performance which should lift their spirits for the remainder of the season.

St Columbas U-11 6
HB Saints Tigers U-11 3
Four goals in a dramatic last three minutes gave an almost unbelievable scoreline to a match that Tigers had looked like winning.
They had the edge in a competitive first half and opened the scoring when Jacob Burton's ball up the wing released Josh Peterson whose incisive allowed Sam Thompson to fire home a low shot.
Columbas drew level after a goalmouth scramble but it wasn't for long as Peterson intercepted the ball on the halfway line, ran down the left and shot low into the corner.
It could have been more before half time but Dan Davie's left foot shot went over the bar and a Finley Pearce header was pushed over by the keeper.
As the second half went on St Columbas began winning more midfield ball and looked dangerous on the break.
They drew level then took the lead as an attempted clearance rebounded and resulted in a Tigers own goal.
St Columbas broke again and went 4-2 up with two minutes left.
Yet another good Tigers move saw a Peterson shot saved but Thompson follow up to grab his second to make it 4-3.
Tigers' defence disappeared forward in an attempt to grab an equaliser and paid the price by conceding two goals in the last minute.

HB Saints Allstars U-8 3 Crossley Swifts 3.
Allstars showed a mixture of battling qualities and silky footballing as they drew with a Swifts side which has a good record this season.
Saints were quick out of the blocks with Hellowell, Ashworth and Latham all going close.
Howarth and Shapland kept things tight in defence and made sure that the Allstars midfielders had plenty of good ball.
Up front Marlor was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet when a great strike hit the crossbar but Saints were hit by a sucker punch just before half time when Crossleys broke and scored.
Changes in the second-half saw Saints bring Newsome on for Marlor and he made an immediate impact playing the pass of the game to Ashworth who rifled the equaliser past the Crossley keeper.
Saints then won a corner which was deflected into the Crossley goal to give them a deserved 2-1 lead and it was only a matter of time before Allstars extended their lead, Gledhill winning the ball in midfield before passing out to Ashworth who skipped past two Crossley players before unleashing an unstoppable shot.
With five minutes to go Saints thought they'd wrapped the game up and seemed to switch off only for Crossleys to win a corner which fell to their striker to tap in from two yards.
This was the lift the Crossley players needed, and with a minute remaining they scored a fine equaliser.
Allstars having played so well and enjoying so much possession will feel they should of won this game. Man of the match was Harry Ashworth.

HB Saints Scorpions U-8 9
Northowram Juniors U-8 2
SCORPIONS picked up where they left off before the big freeze with another impressive performance on the all-weather surface at Kershaw Dene.
An early strike from Dan Bradshaw set the pattern and an own goal, followed by a powerful shot from Jake Blackhurst, allowed the home side to race into a 3-0 lead.
Juniors pulled a goal back but Blackhurst netted again to give Scorpions a 4-1 lead at half-time, thanks in no small part to the firm defensive platform provided by Alex Dowling and Simeon Thomas.
A further five goals followed in the second half – a hat-trick from Edward Ludlum, one for Blackhurst and Thomas stabbed home his first goal for the team.
Although not among the goals, Thomas Robinson was a constant thorn in the side of the Juniors' defence and deserved his man of the match award.

HB Saints Scorpions U-8 9
Northowram Juniors U-8 0
A SHORTER second game saw the Scorpions again overwhelm the Juniors with superb passing allied to the physical strength of players such as Blackhurst, Ludlum, Bradshaw and Joshua Knight.
All 50-50 balls went Scorpions' way and the strong running Ludlum bagged another hat-trick, with two goals each going to Bradshaw and Robinson and one to Knight.
An unlucky Juniors' own goal completed the 9-0 victory.

HB Saints Whites U-10 5
Huddersfield AFC U-10 2
SAINTS eased into the next round of the qualifying cup with a comfortable victory in their qualifying cup match.
Joe Eastwood opened the scoring and great link-up play between defence midfield and attack was rewarded with a second goal before the interval thanks to Rory Ellis's blistering shot.
Huddersfield came out all guns blazing in the second-half and pulled a goal back through Elliot Sales.
Goalkeeper Loz Clayton produced a number of fine saves to keep his team in the hunt but Sales did manage to send the game into extra time with his second goal of the morning.
Will Jackson almost pinched it right at the death but he was denied by the HAFC goalie.
Extra time was five minutes each way and penalties beckoned if there was still no winner.
Rory Ellis crossed into the path of Jake Bogacki who made no mistake to put Saints back in front after just a minute.
Charlie Barnes, Joe Eastwood, and Will Jackson were solid at the back and they set up George Thompson whose blistering shot from distance was saved.
It was a similar story in the second extra period with Sean Crossley and Charlie Barnes making the tackles and some good inter-passing won a free-kick for Saints.
George Thompson from Bogacki whose quick turn and side step allowed him to set up George Standring who powered his shot into the back of the net via the post.
Clayton was alert right to the end, blocking another Huddersfield attack and Thompson benefitted from another exchange of passes with Bogacki and Standring to complete the scoring.

HB Sharks U-9 4
Beacon Rangers U-9 0
SHARKS went into this game without a win this season and having scored only three goals along the way.
It was a run that they ended in some style.
Rangers' best player was their goal keeper but he failed to prevent a Joe Healey brace and further goals from Eoin McCondach and Matthew Broadbent.
Sharks' cause was helped by a man-of-the-match display from Enky Gray and stout defending by Sam Edmondson and Frankie Bradshaw.
They now take their upturn in form into the cup trophy competition this weekend.
