THREE upper Calder Valley gymnasts from Halifax Sports Acro, based at Greetland, and Todmorden-based Border Gym, will be part of a team of 15 local gymnasts competing for Yorkshire in the International Geneva Cup 2010 in Switzerland next month.

This is the second year Halifax, which has strong links with Border Gym, and Rotherham have teamed up and the gymnasts and their parents have been busy fundraising to fund the trip by selling pens, quizzes and raffle tickets and recently undertook a bag-packing session at Tesco in Halifax town centre.

The girls have thanked Tesco and also Weir Minerals of Todmorden and Aquaspersions of Halifax who have also made sponsorship donations.

If any local businesses would also like to contribute, they should contact Sue Smith on telephone 01706 816755.
