SATURDAY'S Medalford at Mount Skip resulted in a close finish between two of the golf clubs 'Diddymen' when Lee 'Lamos' Amos narrowly beat low handicapper Duncan 'Shuffler's Apprentice' Southwell by one point.
This competition has proved very popular in the winter months when the front nine holes are played in a strokeplay format with the back nine holes in a Stableford, with the latter score being deducted from the former, the winner being the golfer with
the lowest number of points.

Although scoring a superb six gross birdies and a final score of 12 points on the winter greens which were frozen solid due to the sub zero temperature, this was still not enough for low handicapper Duncan to win, narrowly losing out to Lee (pictured left) by one point. The maxim good things often come in small packages been well proven by them both in truly testing conditions.

In third place with a better back nine was Chad Allott on 13 points.

Spenner again

There is no stopping Stuart 'Spenner' Spencer at the moment as he was again won his Four Ball Better Ball to consolidate his position at the top of the league table, ably assisted by his partner 'Bondy' winning 3&2 against Chris 'Rumpole' Phillips and Graham 'Stonker' Boulton. There was other wins for 'The Wriggler', 'Sooty' and the 'Lawman' 'Starsky' and Big Bash', Nigel Fielden and Dave Pickles.

The birdie hole now stands at £108 which should the winter weather improve may well tempt the low handicappers such as 'Powelly' and 'Bob The Builder' Gee out of the Sunday morning slumber in the coming weeks.

Spenner for his part is just praying for more snow.
