HEBDEN Royd Red Star are up to third place in the Halifax Ziggy Spice House League Premier Division after a 4-1 home win over Halifax Irish Centre.
The return of Marvin Bonney from North West Counties League Nelson towards the end of 2009 has made a big difference and he scored twice for Red Star, who gradually got on top after an even first half.
Irish took the lead midway through the first half when Mikey Pearson rounded stand-in keeper Jack Earle to score.
Bonney, who also had a spell with Todmorden Borough in the West Lancashire League, levelled before the break and John Collins gave Red Star the lead early in the second half.
Nick Spence put daylight between the teams with a header from Liam Barrett's cross before Bonney headed home the final goal.
Bottom club Calder 76 lost 2-1 at Elland, Stephen Jones scoring their goal.
In Division one Hebden Royd Red Star Reserves played out a scoreless draw with Martins Nest.
Third Division Calder 76 Reserves recorded the result of the day at they held second placed Sowerby United Res to a 1-1 draw, Mulligan scoring their goal.
All the other local games were frozen off.
It was another blank weekend for the Sunday League teams with the whole fixture list postponed due to frozen pitches.
