ENTRIES are still being accepted for the Hebden League Veterans Merit competition, which will be played at Walsden BC on Wednesday (July 1).
A bumper entry is expected and the draw will be made on the green at 10am. All entrants must be present to be included in the draw. Bowlers can confirm their entry by contacting Brian Gunnill.

Mixed pairs entries are also being accepted by league
secretary Fred Rothwell on 01422 8321295.

This popular competition is again sponsored by Hargreaves footwear, bowls and saddlery and will be played at Crossroads BC on Sunday, July 5.

The league competition is almost at the halfway point and it could not be any closer after the round 10 games.

In the First Division Mytholmroyd BC A made their home green advantage pay by inflicting the first defeat of the season on Crossroads A.

Victory puts Royd just a point behind Crossroads with a game in hand and the sides to meet again in the second half of the programme.

Oxenhope A, Whinswood, Denholme A, Luddenden Foot A and Hebden Bridge come next and are covered by a nine point spread.

In Division two Savile still lead on 62 points from Hebden Royd Park (56) while Old Town A (54), Oakworth (52) and Crossroads B (51) are still in contention.

Division three has seen Oxenhope B take 37 points from their last four games to steal a march on the opposition - their 70 point tally putting them nine clear of Old Town B.

Luddenden Foot B seem to be the likeliest challenger for promotion with their total of 59 points keeping them very much in touch.

Division one: Mytholmroyd BC A 7, Crossroads A 3; Luddenden Foot A 6, Whinswood 4; Oxenhope A 8, Hebden Bridge 2; Mytholmroyd WM 9, Ripponden 1; Sowerby A 2, Denholme A 8.

Division two: Heptonstall A 3, Hebden Royd Park 7; Cullingworth A 9, Hollins 1; Savile 6, Old Town A 4; Lund Park B 8, Mytholmroyd BC B 2; Crossroads B 7, Crossroads C 3.
