ONLY a handful of games survived the weather this weekend as a combination of rain and snow combined to force a slew of postponements.
In Division one of the Halifax Ziggy’s Spice House League Luddenden Foot put some indifferent form behind them to get their promotion bandwagon back on track thanks to a 3-0 victory over Salem.

It was sweet revenge over a side which had surprisingly held them to a 1-all draw the previous week.

More importantly it pulled Foot to within two points of St Andrews in second place - and the Saints have now played all their matches.

Jon Booth added two more goals to his free-scoring tally for the season and Salem put through their own net to complete the scoring.

Wadsworth United have been in fine form recently, a string of wins moving them from the bottom of Division three to a more comfortable mid-table position. However, they were on the end of a 6-2 defeat at the hands of Sowerby Bridge Reserves on Saturday.

Tom Garland and Gorgoi scored for United.

Calder 76 Reserves lost out in a five goal thriller at home to promotion chasing Engineers.

Freeth and Dempsey gave them hope but two goals from Whitton meant that it was the visitors who took the points.

On Sunday Stubbing Wharf were one of just three fixtures to beat the overnight snow.

There was no happy ending for Wharf though as they lost out by the odd goal in nine against Jack’s Bar.
