Slimming World offers some healthy eating tips for the new year, said organiser of the Todmorden group, Rachel Firth.

Rachel said: “Here are some top money-saving slimming tips:

“Shop late in the day as most supermarkets and food shops slash the prices on fresh goods at the end of the day

“Plan your meals, make a shopping list and stick to it

“Buy food in season as it often means the produce is in larger supply and has equated less food miles, therefore bringing it’s price down.

“Downshift your brand buying; buy one brand below what you usually buy, such as the supermarket own labels

“And cook meals from scratch as it gives you control over your budget and allows you to opt for cheaper and healthier ingredients.”
