Honorary member of the Cragg Vale branch of the Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association, Mrs Joy Wilson, passed away aged 97 in December 2013 and was remembered at the January meeting as a stalwart and constant supporter who would be sadly missed.

In December 18 members and friends enjoyed a Christmas meal at the Hinchliffe Arms, Cragg Vale, and a collection made during the meal raised £46.20 for Overgate Hospice.

The January meeting was held in the church room where Jill Robinson spoke about “Life’s Rich Tapestry”, recalling times she had visited care homes and talked to residents about their lives, some happy, some sad and some funny. She was thanked by Sue Whitehead. The competition winner was Jane Redmond and the raffle winner Sue Whitehead. Supper was a “Jacob’s Join”.
