Flood-stricken communities have been targeted by thieves.

Police have said there have been reports of property left to dry outside flood-ravaged homes and businesses being stolen.

A Calderdale Valleys Police spokesperson said: “As the clean-up of Mytholmroyd, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge continues, we are being made aware of persons attending the area and removing items which are being left outside properties either for disposal or to dry out.”

A bike shop in Todmorden has been burgled and a police spokesperson added that reassurance patrols in the flood affected areas have been conducted by the police and army personnel.
