Over The Rainbow, the Age UK Todmorden social group for older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people is working with Todmorden Library to bring films to the LGBT community.

Last month a successful screening of the film Freeheld with Julianne Moore and Ellen Page was shown to a near full house prior to the film’s general release.

This month on March 19 the group will be showing Carol, the Todd Haynes’ adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara which promises to be an evocative period drama of forbidden love and social constraints.

The film will start at 1pm and tickets are available from Todmorden Library.

Next month, on April 16, Over the Rainbow are showing Cloudburst, a road movie with a difference starring Brenda Fricker and Olympia Dukakis.

It depicts two older lesbians saying no to residential care and escaping across America on an adventure with a difference.

The film will start at 1pm and tickets are available at Todmorden Library.

A spokesperson for the group said: “These screenings are an exciting additional development in collaboration with Todmorden Library and Calderdale MBC library service and are just one of the many activities in the Over the Rainbow programme. “

For more information about Over the Rainbow, contact Age UK Todmorden on 01706 817926. Anyone over 50 who identifies as LGBT and is living in Calderdale is welcome to join the group which meets monthly on the first Saturday of the month at 1pm in Todmorden Library.
