Local young performers and artists will be using an empty town centre shop to showcase their talents thanks to Hebden Bridge Arts Festival.
This project was inspired by the festival’s youth team who successfully took over a vacant shop in 2013.
This year the space will be used as a base for local youth groups and organisations who want to put on a performance, display work, run a workshop or just show the town what they can do.
Individual young people can also get involved by pitching to show work created specifically for the festival or simply showcasing work they’ve already produced.
Artistic director Helen Meller said: “The shop space was so successful we wanted to run it again to offer the space as a platform to show off the work of the amazingly talented young people we have in the valley and integrate them into the festival.
“The shop will also be a platform for young people taking slots in the Street Sundae public performances, plus an opportunity to document the festival through film, text and photography so they can get that work out through their social media networks.”
The festival will book guest artists and performers to lead discussions and workshops designed for young people.
