Hebden Royd Probus Club president, Mr Ray Barnes, welcomed members who heard an illustrated talk “Privies and Guzunders” by Jan Scrine. This was a humorous but informative account of getting rid of human waste through the centuries, from “behind a bush” to modern bathrooms. Pictures were shown of communal sites at Hadrian’s Wall, and continental holes in the floor. Skipton Castle is an example of “through the wall and into the moat”. A vote of thanks was given by Geoffrey Greenwood.

At Mytholmroyd Community Centre on Wednesday, June 10, Heather Slater returns to tell of her “Holiday in South Africa.” Meetings start with coffee at 10am for 10.30am start. Geoff said: “The club is holding a bowling match at Mytholmroyd Bowling Club on Monday, June 8, at 1.30pm - not too serious!

“New members welcome , come along and join us.”
