Walkers set out on last year's walk

A WALK to remember two Mytholmroyd brothers who died due to substance abuse takes place later this month.

“Let’s not walk away, let’s walk together” remembers brothers Liam and Sam Jones and takes place from 11am on Saturday, September 29, at Burnley Road Fields, Mytholmroyd.

The walk is organised by Sam and Liam’s sister Belinda, who said it also aims to “raises awareness of drug and alcohol related issues among young people and highlight the support services already in place in Calderdale”.

Belinda said: “The event brings the community together, raises money and demonstrates to young people who are struggling with addiction that they are supported by the local community.”

The five-mile walk finishes at The Salem Centre in Hebden Bridge and costs £8 for adults, while under-16s go for free. All proceeds go to Branching Out, part of the Lifeline project. For more information, email werenotwalkingaway@live.co.uk, search ‘Lets not walk away, lets walk together’ on Facebook or register on the day at 10.45am.
