Upper valley snow - main roads passable at rush hour, take care and watch for updates

Heavy snow is forecast for the rest of this morning with light snow expected for the rest of today, tonight and tomorrow.

People setting out on journeys are adviced to take care.

Commuter traffic has been able to navigate the main upper Calder Valley roads, with the A646 reasonably clear but side roads are becoming increasingly difficult to negotiate.

With the weather set to worsen through the morning, police are advising people to take care when setting out on a joiurney

Local schools are monitoring the situation.

Todmorden High School say they will monitor the situation throughout the day and ask students to wear sensible footwear.

Calderdale College is open today except Southfields Farm, which is closed.

Calder High School is open as normal.

Several bus services in Calderdale have been hit by the snow.

Passengers are being warned to expect delays to all services, with some staying on main roads only if unable to access minor roads due to weather

The 528 is terminating at Ripponden

The 574 is running to the Kershaw Estate only.

The 593 is running between Halifax and Hebden Bridge only.

The 539 can not operate to Hungerhill, terminating service at Bradshaw Church.

The 542 can not operate to Norton Tower, services are terminating at Golden Lion Public House on Gibbet Street.

The 549 can not operate Via Cowcliffe, they are operating via Bradford Rd to Huddersfield.

Hebden Bridger mini bus services to Old Town and Dodds Naze suspended.

The 592 to Burnley is running via 589 route via Red Lees Road in both directions at Cliviger.

The 425/427 are unable to serve North View Road on journeys into Bradford.

The 901 is delayed at Mount Roundabout.

For drivers, there is a lane blocked on the M62 westbound between junction 25 Brighouse and junction 22 Rishworth Moor because of snow.

Hazardous driving conditions are being reported on the M62 between junction 26 Chain Bar and junction 29 Lofthouse.

Meanwhile flights were grounded earlier at Leeds Bradford Airport. Passengers are being urged to check before travelling.
