The owners of Valley Organics in Market Street, Hebden Bridge, believe major factors in its success are the ability to verify and certify the produce it sells.

Jackie Reynolds and Elaine Proctor, who have run the business for the past five years, make up and deliver veg boxes to homes in and around Hebden Bridge, also offering a range of vegan and gluten-free products. Many items they sell are grown locally, especially in the summer, but the couple also source organic fruit such as bananas, pineapples and oranges from hotter climates which cannot be grown in the UK. Jackie said: “Our philisophy is to source as close to home as possible. Things are going very well. People like to buy organic because they know it is all certified and verified.”

The business, which does not sell meat or meat products, has recovered well from the summer floods which saw it move out temporarily into Hope Baptist Church. Jackie said: “It was very traumatic at the time but the church was very helpful and we are lucky to have a very loyal customer base.”
