The sweet smell of success accompanied a magical interpretation of an age-old festive tale.

Role With It Productions staged a traditional version of The Nutcracker at Hebden Bridge Town Hall in the run-up to Christmas.

In conjunction with the Hebden Bridge Times, Role With It organised a competition to design a poster for the show and more than 200 entries were submitted. Winners were chosen by graphic designer Jonathan Robertson of Hebden Bridge-based Kreative Bomb.

Ella Howard, nine, of Midgley School, won the first prize of a £25 gift voucher from Silly Billy’s toy shop and a family ticket to the show.

Ella Brereton, age 11, of Hebden Royd School, was runner-up and won a hamper from Something Sweet in Hebden Bridge and a private dance lesson at the Helen Wilman School Of Dance. Bob Leedham, of Something Sweet, is pictured presenting the hamper to Ella, watched by (from left) Stephanie Butler, Timothy Richey, Ruth Cataroche and Michael Forrest, the professional actors who starred in The Nutcracker.
