Shadow Education Minister Tristram Hunt spoke of the importance of a “passion for learning” during a visit to the Calder Valley.

Mr Hunt, who heard of the efforts to fund re-building of Todmorden High and Calder High School, said: “Seeing the amount of neglect and decay in the infrastructure here, it does make a difference. But it’s not the whole story - it’s what takes place in the classroom and the passion for learning in it.”
