School’s guy design left others in the shade

Bonfire fever is sweeping the upper Calder Valley.
Hebden Bridge bonfire night, organised by Hebden Bridge Round Table, takes place at Calder Holmes Park on Saturday, November 3.
The winner of the annual guy competition was Shade Primary School, Todmorden, second place was Central Street Infant School, Hebden Bridge, and third was Hebden Royd Primary School, Hebden Bridge. Nine schools entered.
The gates for the bonfire open at 4.30pm and the bonfire will be lit by Hebden Royd Mayor Christine Davenport at 6.30pm. A children’s firework display starts at 7pm and the main display is at 8pm.
Entry is £5 adults, £3 under-12s and there will be a family ticket (for two adults and two children or one adult and three children), priced at £12.
There will be a free park-and-ride scheme, starting at 4.30pm at the Moderna Business Park on Burnley Road in Mytholmroyd. Part of the event proceeds will go to supporting Calder Valley flood victims.
