Drivers are likely to face delays while strengthening work on a rail bridge is carried out.

Network Rail are carrying out the work to strengthen the Burnley Road Railway Arch Bridge, Cornholme, from Monday. A spokesman for Network Rail said: “As part of our commitment to provide a safe, reliable and efficient railway, we will be carrying out work to refurbish and strengthen the bridge. This will mean some traffic restrictions will be in place on the A646 either side of the bridge while the work is completed but these will be signed in advance to warn motorists. Work will begin on January 27 and is due to be completed by the end of March. We apologise for any inconvenience this essential work will cause.”
