Radio drama wins Tony a BBC award

Writer and actor Tony Pitts, who used to run a boxing club in Hebden Bridge, has won a BBC radio drama award for his Radio 4 play, “On It”.

The play is the story of one of his students, Liam Jones, and his battle against heroin addiction.

Helen Meller, of Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, and producer Polly Thomas won an award for best audio drama (series or serial). See more in next week’s edition.
