Purr-fect wedding gifts for cats...
Newlyweds Vanessa and Thomas Wood, centre, with Haworth Cat Rescue volunteers Charmaine Ingham, left, holding Roger, and Camilla Brown. The Hebden Bridge couple raised 217 for the charity on their wedding day
A CAT-loving couple have handed over £217 to a rescue charity from their wedding guests.
Thomas and Vanessa Wood, of Charlestown, Hebden Bridge, asked for donations to Haworth Cat Rescue instead of gifts when they married.
Vanessa said: “They do a difficult and often thankless job, and it was great to meet the volunteers and see how well the cats and kittens are looked after. But it still breaks my heart to think of them when I look at my own two cats curled up on the bed beside me and my husband.”
The charity’s campaign manager, Corinne Moore, said: “It’s only thanks to the support of animal lovers like Vanessa and Tom that we are able to weather the recession. We are really appreciative of their gift, which will pay for the neutering of five kittens.”
