Baker Tony Thomas embraced not just pedal power but pie power when he fundraised during last Saturday’s Fantastical Cycle Parade, organised by Hebden Bridge based Handmade Parade in Todmorden.
Tony didn’t just commission a machine to be customised for the day, he and wife Alison, who run Ham Corner in Todmorden Market, raised £520 plus a few pennies which he has now presented to the Cancer Research UK Todmorden fundraising committee.
Other market businesses helped Tony with the cost of baking 150 pies which were sold for £1 each at the parade for the charity.
Not only that, Tony says the sale of the customised bike has also boosted the total - though we’re unsure what he has done with that pork pie hat!
Tony said: “We wanted to raise some money for the charity, and other businesses helped with Bracewell’s butchers donating some pork and BFP donating a bag of flour, while I made and baked the pies.
“Ian, from Mytholmroyd, made a great job of the bike and I can pass on his details if anyone wants one customising, and people can still donate to raise more money for the charity.
“Another business, Porcus, bought the actual bike, and we would like to thank everyone who donated and all who bought the pies.
“As for the parade, it was a great day, and all had a fantastic time,” he said.
